Q. As a body modification specialist, what are the five things you would never do?

Kinita Kadakia Patel: When someone attempts to transform by changing their personal body composition, some things are a big no, or a big mistake.

*sugar
*irregularity of sleep
*Taking supplements all at once without understanding the role of each supplement.
*Focusing only on Sardio or HIIT training and not doing enough strength training
*Not listening to your body and not giving it the breaks it needs to rest and unload

Q. You are well known in the field of nutrition and have helped and coached many celebrities to look and feel their best. But what is the health mantra you swear to yourself?

Kinita Kadakia Patel: Eat to perform. Performance is not just about sports. It happens in everyday life, at work, at the gym, while studying, etc. All of this is tied to how you eat. So eat foods that move you forward and improve your performance, and avoid foods that pull you down and decrease your performance.

Q. As a nutritionist for Mumbai Indians, your association with Mumbai Indians goes back almost 15 years. Each player’s requirements are different, but are there any common habits you follow, especially on match days?

Kinita Kadakia Patel: Cricket sports nutrition is important to provide each player with the right diet to survive the match and to follow a specific hydration plan to meet their fluid needs. In any sport, game day nutrition is usually planned based on the meals consumed on practice day, and new food options are rarely tried on game day. The key to success is to stick to tried-and-true foods that a person’s body is used to.

Q. You have worked with many stars from Alia Bhatt, Ananya Pandey, Genelia D’Souza, Shweta Tiwari, Soha Ali Khan, Jimmy Shergill to Ayan Mukherjee. Who do you think is the most honest and has a hard time following prescribed health habits?

Kinita Kadakia Patel: I have been fortunate to have clients who are, for the most part, honest and disciplined. Jimmy clearly exhibits unparalleled discipline and brings an admirable level of integrity. But I also had clients who were having a really hard time. We work together on projects to achieve their goals and move forward with more sustainable changes.

Q. You are known for “bringing athlete-level nutrition principles into real-world, everyday life.” But don’t these principles differ for athletes and other people?

Kinita Kadakia Patel: absolutely. Sports nutrition for athletes means not only achieving peak performance in competition, but also maintaining discipline during training. This includes the perfect balance of rest, recovery, hydration, and replenishment. In the more general healthy population, the idea of making the principles sustainable allows for some flexibility. Therefore, the 80/20 rule also applies to non-competitive athletes. That means it will follow the plan 80 percent of the time. 20% of the time, you can take a break from your daily routine.

Q. Actors often undergo severe physical transformations for their films, sometimes in a very short span of time. How can we ensure that such rapid changes are healthy and do not negatively impact our health?

Kinita Kadakia Patel: Physical changes can be difficult, but some nutritional elements are necessary to balance the process. Fiber, vitamins, supplements, etc. all complement your work or training routine, along with enough sleep and recovery time. This helps ensure that the actor’s overall health is maintained while achieving the desired results by filming date.

Q. Who are the actors and cricketers:

Kinita Kadakia Patel: a) Gourmet: Almost everything is. It’s my job to help them make healthy choices.

b) I’m very particular about measuring food. Definitely Ayan Mukerji. He’s a superstar at getting his portions right.

c) People who are particular about healthy habits: Definitely Shweta Tiwari. she loves her routine

d) You will need to drag to follow the routine: Most of my clients are very dedicated and disciplined people. However, if you are not compliant, I will pull you up at any time.

Q. There is no one-size-fits-all approach. But if you had to name five health habits that people should follow religiously, what would they be?

Kinita Kadakia Patel: Maintain mealtimes: Maintain a disciplined mealtime schedule rather than intermittent fasting.

Maintain your sleep schedule: Go to bed and wake up at a similar time every day.

Post-meal walk: Take a leisurely walk for about 15 to 20 minutes after your meal to get your body moving.

Quit sugar in all forms

Annual blood test: Be sure to take one if you are over 30 years old.

Q. What was your most difficult assignment, especially working with a celebrity? Why do you call it that?

Kinita Kadakia Patel: Most celebrities take on the challenge because they already eat right and exercise regularly. Deciphering each individual’s uniqueness and adjusting your meal plan accordingly is the key to success. I think the Shweta Tiwari case was definitely a difficult case. She came to me after giving birth to her son Reyansh and her struggle was real. After achieving her desired weight loss, her next goal was to get a fit and transformed body for ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ and she achieved it with flying colors. She feels that her efforts have paid off in many ways, making the whole process very satisfying and successful.

Q. In my rush to lose weight, I often choose extreme methods, from diet to training. What is the ideal sustainable way to plan and execute weight and fat loss?

Kinita Kadakia Patel: First of all, listen to your body. Allow yourself to respond at a healthy pace. Some people see results right away, while others take time. But overall, sustainability comes from learning what works for your body, not following some Instagram fad diet or workout routine.
