This week on Dezeen, a three-year renovation of Frank Lloyd Wright’s most famous building, Fallingwater, has been completed.
A major renovation, led by New York-based Architectural Preservation Studio, addressed water damage and other problems at the mansion, which was designed in the mid-1930s for retail mogul Edgar J. Kaufman.
We were also looking forward to this year’s Milan Design Week, the design world’s largest annual gathering, taking place later this month.
Ahead of the event, we’ve selected key installations and exhibits to see, including Milan Triennale’s Eames House (pictured), a mindfulness space by architect Zaha Hadid, and Kelly Wearstler’s collection for H&M.
In the United States, President Donald Trump once again made headlines when he announced plans to build a presidential library skyscraper in Miami.
Meanwhile, in Washington, D.C., construction on the White House addition was halted after a judge ruled that Congress needed approval to continue the project.
This week also marks the 10th anniversary of the death of Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid. To commemorate the occasion, Milan named a street near his Generali Tower after the architect.
Arik Chen, director of the Zaha Hadid Foundation, also selected 10 of his favorite items from Hadid’s archives especially for Dezeen.
In stadium news, Te Kaha’s One New Zealand Stadium has been announced as the final major part of Christchurch’s rebuilding after the 2011 earthquake.
Meanwhile, Danish architecture studio BIG has unveiled designs for a 50,000-seater stadium to be built in Madrid’s Macondo Park for Colombian singer Shakira’s world tour.
Dezeen’s top projects this week included a windowless house in Brazil, London’s V&A East Museum and a house that ‘moves with the dunes’ in the Netherlands.
