The long-established Armor Gym is gearing up for a major milestone: Baba’s Project Gym (BPG) is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a series of events designed to bring the community together.
Owned and operated by Coach Baba Ali and his wife Lindsey, the gym is a cornerstone of Armagh’s health, fitness and community. To kick off the anniversary celebrations, BPG will host the following events: Health and Wellness Fundraising Weekend April 17th and 18thall proceeds support Women’s Aid.
“We are truly proud to have worked with Baba’s Project Gym in Armor City for 10 years,” said Baba.
“It’s been a really long and wonderful journey.”
Bubba, who has over 16 years of coaching experience, reflected on how the gym has evolved since opening in 2016.
“I’ve built up a strong coaching client base myself, but opening the gym has allowed me to take everything to another level. I’ve now been able to properly support people in a facility that feels like home to all of our members.”
“For me, the gym was a new level of growth, and having a coach under me was the next step in my career.”
The person who supported his growth behind the scenes was his wife and gym manager.
“I’m really proud to have my wife Lindsey by my side… She’s really driving the business behind the scenes.”

Over the past decade, BPG has evolved not only as a facility but also as a coaching environment.
“We have a great coaching team here now and we are looking to keep raising standards,” Baba added.
“We’ve had great staff come to our gym, many of whom have gone on to do great things in the industry. It’s been a real journey from where we started to where we are now.”
A facility built for progress

A weekend focused on community, energy and impact
The upcoming Health & Wellness Weekend is the first of many events planned throughout the year that combine fitness, health and fundraising.
“Everything we do here is focused on health and fun,” Baba says.
“We wanted to create something special that brought both together: an active weekend that also focused on health.”
Importantly, this event open to everyonenot just members.
“This event is open to everyone and we want the whole Armagh community to get involved and experience the weekend,” Mr Baba continued.
“If you’re new to fitness, this is your chance to get involved.”
“We want to bring fitness to as many people as possible. We want to make fitness fun and energizing and part of a lifestyle rather than a chore.”

What you can expect from the weekend
The weekend is filled with high-energy events designed for all levels.
Friday Night – High Energy Kickoff
The event begins like this: Live DJ workout experiencespecial feature ryan mccoy It makes the atmosphere come alive.
Expect high-energy group sessions with over 40 participants that will set the tone for the weekend.
Saturday Morning – Community and Movement
The day starts early 6am, sunrise, 5km runwe welcome all abilities, from walkers to runners, and value participation and fun.
Following this, Family Partner Boot Camp at 9am Watch parents and children train side by side in a fun and engaging environment.
Recovery and Wellness Experience
The highlight of the weekend will be a luxurious sponsored recovery suite. star view living room.
Open Thursday night through Sunday, attendees can access:
- ice bath
- recovery tools
- relaxation space
Donations cost £10 and all proceeds will go directly to Women’s Aid.
BPG ROX – Main Event
The highlight events of the weekend are BPG ROX Fitness Challengea high-intensity Hyrox-style competition starting at 10:30 a.m.
Participants will compete in the following areas:
- male and female categories
- Mixed doubles entry
- A challenging course featuring steep slopes
Designed for those who want to push themselves, it is expected to be the most competitive and action-packed part of the weekend.
Dean Coppard also helps prepare and serve BPG-style barbecue. The Full Healthy Spread is available from 11 to 1 p.m.
Closing Seminar – Education and Inspiration
To conclude the event, Bubba will host a motivational seminar with two expert guest speakers.
- Sammy Dowling — A leading strength and conditioning coach with experience working with elite teams such as Leinster Rugby and Dublin GAA
- brenda bannon — Nutritionist, nutritionist, active inter-county athlete
This seminar provides practical insights into performance, nutrition, and mindset.

The focus of the weekend will be on philanthropy, with all funds raised going towards: Northern Ireland Women’s Support.
“The current situation is very sad. Thirty women have been murdered in Northern Ireland in the last four years,” Baba said.
“Women are dealing with the behind-the-scenes issues surrounding domestic violence every day and we want to raise awareness and support the amazing work of Women’s Aid.”
“This is a place where women can feel safe and find support, and we’re proud to help them do that.”
Donation points can be used in conjunction with online donations during the event.
Looking ahead to the 10-year milestone
The Health & Wellness Weekend kicks off a full calendar of events for the gym’s official 10th anniversary in October.
“Fundraising and community involvement have always been a big part of what we do,” Baba added.
“This is just the beginning of what we have planned.”
Baba reflected on his journey and concluded with a message to those who have supported the gym over the years.
“This event is special and we are so grateful to our members, coaches past and present, family and friends.”
